“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
The penalty of sin is so bitter that there is a need for a powerful antidote in order to remove its sting from a man’s soul. Remarkably, God has provided the sole remedy: the Gospel.
The word gospel came from the Greek word “euangelion,” which literally means good news. It’s about the good news of the love of God towards men. The love that constrained Him to give His beloved son Jesus Christ to offer himself up on the cross as the ransom for mankind (Luke 2:10-11, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4). The Gospel does not only embrace the soul but the whole personality and being of every individual as well. All that a human being needs is covered by the gospel.
PREACH THE GOSPEL
The Gospel must be heard by all men; in all nations; by all nationalities and races. It is inclusive to all whatever is one’s class, culture and tradition. It is free to all therefore no man must not be deprived of the chance of hearing it. No wonder why that Christ Himself commanded His disciples to go and bring the gospel to everyone (Mark 16:15). During his earthly ministry, He himself preached in lake shores (Luke 5:1), in every house and on the streets (Luke 14:21-35).
The early apostles proclaimed the good news even in the chariot (Acts 8:27-39); also in marketplaces (Acts 17:17) they preached.
THE TRUE PREACHERS OF THE GOSPEL
Not all who desire and feel the conviction to proclaim the Good News are authorized to do so. If the message of the Gospel is inclusive to all men, the right to preach it is exclusive only to those that God has sent. The Bible clearly restricts the bringing of the message of the salvation to all that are commissioned by the Lord to proclaim it (Romans 10:14-15). For the Gospel being preached by the false preachers is also false like themselves. Only the true sent-ones of God utter the true and pure Gospel of the Lord that brings true salvation of the soul. They are the apostles of God and their companions in the ministry. They are the ones who were tasked to carry out the Great commission.
The fruit of the gospel is the salvation of the soul. It is the Good News’s objective that every soul must be retrieved from fire and damnation. For very sinner is bound to drink the wrath of God. He is to pay the eternal price. The gospel alone offers the way of escape.
Three basic steps one must take to receive the fruit of the Gospel. First, he must believe that the Lord Jesus Christ gave up His life for Him (Mark 16:16). He died on the cross to take away his sin and He brought reconciliation with God. It is accepting wholeheartedly that Christ is Lord over him.
Second, he must repent of his sin. It is not just a feeling of regret over all his transgressions but it includes a decision to turn away f his wicked life (Isaiah 55:7). Repentance must prod him also to walk the kind of life God wants him to have. Lastly, he must submit himself to water baptism, which will cleanse him of his sins (Acts 22:16). This is not a mere ritual but physical manifestation of his faith and obedience to the will of God.
Great is the punishment that awaits sinners so as the love of God is so great. It encompasses all. He showed His genuine love when He gave us His begotten one. May we not miss the greatest message of all.
